Steak and Eggs - Christmas Asspilation

Breaking news: Christmas ruined twice (maybe 3 times) in 1 year

Christmas is called off this year due to a bizarre mixup between Santa Claus and flatulent fashionista, Sam Brinton. Santa was recently jailed in Tijuana for allegedly "doing blow and smoking marijuana". Out of money and out of cash, Santa "pimped out his reindeer" to make bail. To make matters worse, he couldn't afford the fees to release his sleigh from impound and was forced to fly Tijuana Air to deliver his gifts. While in the airport, Santa noticed a foul smelling bald person in a bright colored dress lurking around the baggage carousel. CCTV footage released later that day shows the Next Generation reject to be none other than deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the Office of Nuclear Energy's Sam Brinton. Stifled by Brinton's own spent gas and waste disposition (fart), Santa and the rest of the airport were unaware of Brinton sneaking away with Santa's bag of gifts. Christmas has been tainted, an "asspilation" in the first degree.

Steak and Eggs proudly bring you "The Miracle Of Manna"

The evening of the 9th of May, the Feast of the Translation of S. Nicholas from Myra-Turkey to Bari-Italy in 1087, the stone sarcophagus is opened. In the crowded crypt, the Archbishop of Bari extracts one or two glasses of water formed during the year around the Saint’s bones. It is the so-called manna. A Father of the Dominican Community pours this manna into large containers of blessed water, making a large quantity to fill small bottles in order to satisfy the requests of sick people and pilgrims. Sometimes the Rector gives extremely small bottles of pure manna as relics, but only after official requests of the Steak and Eggs Hierarchy.

It's fall y'all!

You ever seem to have one of those days where it just seems like everybody's gettin' on your case, from your teacher all the way down to your best girlfriend? Well, y'know, I used to have them just about all the time, but I found a way to get out of them. Let me tell you about it!

Merry Christmas from Steak and Eggs

We read and reviewed over 100 Christmas songs. We felt that younger children would get the most enjoyment from the title we selected below. We hope you enjoy listening to it with your children, grandchildren, or to students in your classroom.

Seasons' Eatings from Steak And Eggs

With Santa socially distancing this year, Steak And Eggs has made the tough decision to give our traditional annual Christmas song a break. It’s not all bad new though, as we can still celebrate with tacos, the Macarena, and “Sensual Drizzle” with guest members, Flashbrowns and Toast. Get some.

Scrotuculus - Live at Chronos Cafe 1994

In 1994, Scrotuculus was created as a joke on metal bands. The joke went too far and we played a single show. I'd tell a longer story, but I can't really remember that far back and the Richmond Music Journal article below should say enough.

So Many Heroes Died on Christmas Day

The festive season is always a time to be jolly but not so much for some people. While we bring out the pot roast, call friends and family over, then share a movie and wine later on, there are celebrities who were fighting for their lives. Unfortunately, some did not make it through the festivities and it is even worse that they lost their lives on Christmas day. Please help us commemorate our celebrity heroes in this fine tribute courtesy of Steak and Eggs featuring Flashbrowns.

The Christmas holiday is a special time of year
We celebrate but also shed a tear
So many heroes died on Christmas day
A memorial song so their names don't fade away

Steak and Eggs - The Miracle That is Christmas

John Steakman and Stephen Eggleston cordially invite you to share the warmth in their new song, "The Miracle That is Christmas". Please enjoy special guests Flashbrowns on the bass guitar and Jobangers N' Mash playing some keyboards, and other beautiful noisemakers, who are sure to make your special day of merrymaking even more wondrous.

Merry Ishmas - An Ish Records Music Sampler

In 2001, Ish Records set out to create a Christmas album for the world (about 10 people actually) to hear. In typical Ish form, only 1 Christmas song was actually recorded. The remaining 11 songs have nothing to do with Christmas but releasing an album with just 1 song would be silly, even for Ish's low standards. We invite you to sing along and create your own Christmas versions though, if that's your thing. Otherwise, deal with it.

The Tom Jeremiah Band - Manic Mechanic

What can I say, TJB covered ZZ Top with fake drums in 2013 featuring special guest David Didonato on guitar. That's right.

Steak and Eggs - HoHoHoes

Another Steak and Eggs traditional Christmas recording, but this time celebrating Christmas in July, a Steak and Eggs first! Recorded in December 2017, right before the Jesus Christmas, this song was thought to be TOO good to simply be given away as a Christmas gift. Fast forward to July, actually June, and we are feeling extra generous. Truth be told, we were actually waiting on clearance to use the title from hip-hop icon Lil Scurvy. His recent death gave us the opportunity to release the track until his estate comes looking for royalties (not only did we steal the title, we also sampled the cymbal crash at the 1:28 mark), so please enjoy Christmas in July, or June, courtesy of Steak and Eggs while you still can.

The Tom Jeremiah Band - Call Me Tom

The Tom Jeremiah Band is back after a long hiatus, this time covering the little-known original demo version of Paul Simon's "Call Me Al". Originally titled "Call Me Tom", this composition took Simon in a different direction with lyrics about an awkward sexual encounter. Fearing backlash from the PMRC, GLAAD, and the United Nations, Simon changed the lyrics to reflect a man experiencing a mid-life crisis, which became the well-known radio hit that most of us are familiar with today. Like us, I think you too will enjoy the original vision of Paul Simon's "Call Me Tom".

Steak and Eggs - Athena's Cradle

The Easter Bunny came early to ish records and dropped off a basketful of treats. Inside one of the eggs was a track from Steak and Eggs about some kid they call "The Hamster". I am just as confused as you.

The Twin Fins

In 2011, Erik and I were asked to put together some surf songs to play before the presentation of the B-movie, "The Beach Girls and the Monster", at the NC Museum of Life and Science. We named the band The Twin Fins and came up with a handful of songs over a few practices, all of which we recorded on my iPhone. These are a few of those songs.

Mind Gibson

In March of 2014, Andy, Lucius, and Joel got together to record some ideas. Though there was no name attached to the project, the song is labeled "MindGibsonPracticeEdit01". Prepare for 38 minutes of noise, banter, and a few song ideas.

Cold Morris - Songs from Head First session

Here is Ish Records first band, Cold Morris, with a few tracks from their 1990 release, "Head First", including a few outtakes. I think this is the only time the Garden Weasel has ever been recorded to tape. It's a shame too because it makes a great substitute for jingle bells. And remember, don't mix nervous puppies with yuppies.

A Jeremiah Boothe Christmas

With the recent unearthing of the rare Meconium cassette, it was only fitting that Steak and Eggs honor their founder, Jeremiah Boothe. Not only is Jeremiah the man behind Meconium's "Shrieks of impending doom", he is also a fan of Sublime (obviously) and decorating his Christmas tree each year, felled by shotgun. From what I'm told, he decorates it good, or so the lyrics go.
